Update on our Innovation Engine

Https://exploration.burningwater.net is live! Though there is still much that is changing in the background, the site is also beginning to show signs of change on its face. Current changes are small, but they are coming. At this stage, it is best to think of what you see as watching an artist create a painting. The first strokes are large and vague. They do nothing more than sketching out large blocks of form and color. They are not expected to be perfect, they are only expected to guide the next lines to come. Soon, a coherent picture will begin to form. Even without definition, it will start to give you an idea of what details are missing. It is likely that by the time those details are filled in, most of the initial sketch will be lost, but by then those lines and shapes will have served their purpose.

My current task in sketching out the structure is building the technology tree. It is by no means perfect. it is unresearched and contains little more than a sentence or two and an "under construction" templated text box. I can already see that categories will have to move and be renamed, but these are nothing more than guidelines. Categories can move. Names can easily change. As nice as it might be to get it right the first time, I refuse to put that kind of pressure on myself.

For now, I will embrace the idea that 42 is the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything. The answer is there, but the question has yet to be revealed. The audience is responsible for ascribing their meaning until the sketch is a little more complete. As it happens, the engine to calculate the question involves the whole planet in an interactive art piece they do not yet know they are involved in.

This wiki is the answer to a question that has yet to be verbalized, but the calculations to determine the question are on the surface and will have their own use. People's actions will determine the outcome. Please join in and help with the calculations.
